Content Strategy for Beginners: The Only Framework You Need
The most common mistake new creators make is not starting too slowly — it is overcomplicating before they begin. They spend weeks researching strategies, building content calendars, and planning aesthetics before they have posted a single piece of content. The result is paralysis dressed up as preparation. Here is the only framework you need to start building real momentum.
The Three Content Pillars
Choose three content pillars — three broad topics that your content will consistently cover. These should be the intersection of what you know, what you enjoy talking about, and what your target audience wants to learn. Every piece of content you create should fall under one of these three pillars. This gives your account a coherent identity without restricting your creativity.
The 70/20/10 Rule
Allocate your content roughly as follows: 70% educational or entertaining content that serves your audience with no ask attached, 20% community-building content that invites engagement and builds relationships, and 10% promotional content that directs your audience toward your offers. This ratio builds trust before it asks for anything — which is the only sequence that works long-term.
Start Before You Are Ready
Your first 50 pieces of content are practice. They will not be perfect, they will not all perform, and that is exactly as it should be. The goal of your first 50 posts is not to go viral — it is to find your voice, understand your audience, and build the habit of consistent creation. Everything else comes after that foundation is in place.
"Clarity comes from action, not from planning. Post the imperfect thing. Learn from it. Post again."
